Life will throw a wrench, a pipe, a nail, and a whole building at you when you least expect it. Some will get hit by these objects, while others will evade them like they studied under Keanu Reeves.
Luck does exist: just take a look at these pictures and see for yourself. We only encourage that you don't try these at home.
Saved By The Dad
This kid probably watched his life flash before his eyes. Thankfully, this dad has the reflexes of a cat and saved this kid's head with his massive forearm. This is one reason why the gym helps.
This is what we call dad reflexes. You only develop them after you have kids. This guy's wrist probably hurt pretty badly after this incident, but at least his kid's nose is still intact. Maybe if this kid wasn't on his phone he could have done more to dodge this flying bat.
That Cat Was Almost Toast
Do you see the cat in this photo? Look really closely. You might even have to zoom in. He's right there in the middle of the stove, just chilling. Does this cat have a death wish or something?
Somehow, this cat became perfectly camouflaged. If you look closely, you can see the kitty, but at first glance, it seems like nothing's there. Good thing this person found the feline. This could have been really bad.
We Couldn't Think Of A Better Save
This guy saved his dignity with one punctuation mark. That's why it's essential to watch how you text someone or else you could end up with hurt feelings. This man is smooth.
This comma swooped in to save the day. This is why it's important to pay attention in English class, people. You never know when you might need to use punctuation to save your butt during an embarrassing text conversation. Also, how old are these people?
Ouch, That Almost Hurt More
Looking at this makes me cringe. This person was so close to experiencing a special kind of pain I can't even explain. Thank goodness he dodged this bullet, or should we say nail?
That nail went through the top layer of his skin but didn't draw any blood. Now that's lucky. Why were their old nails lying around this backyard anyway? It seems like a disaster waiting to happen. You definitely don't want to be walking around this backyard without shoes on.
Drain Saves The Ring!
It doesn't happen often, but drains show mercy when they feel like it. A little more to the left or right and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would have had this wedding band.
Now the tricky part is picking the ring up off of the grate without knocking it into the sewer. One wrong move and that thing is gone. Luckily, this man was able to retrieve his ring without losing it to the sewage below.
Theif Doesn't Get The Credit
This person wiggles the card reader, and this came off. She was one swipe away from giving her money to a thief, but it wasn't in the cards for the robber.
This could have ended very badly for this person and everyone in line behind her who would use the machine. She saved a lot of people a lot of heartache just by finding this thing. Let this be a lesson to us all. Always wiggle the card reader.
Truck Driver Almost Takes A Swim In The Ocean
This truck driver was moments away from having to turn into Michael Phelps. A mudslide forced the truck into this sideways position, but the driver made it out safe and sound.
Just looking at this photo is giving me heart palpitations. We can't imagine how the people in the truck must have felt. It's also amazing that the truck didn't get knocked over the rail into the ocean below. Maybe that truck is still salvageable.
Dad Saved His Son From Instant Death
There are actually three people in this photo. There's the boy on the left, his beside him, and the guy falling over beside dad. You can really only see his leg.
A perfectly timed photo showcases a dad saving his son. Don't let the rock he's standing on fool you: they're pretty high up in the air, and the rest of those boulders are jagged. This could have ended very badly for everyone involved. Dad reflexes are at it again.
The Ax That Fights Back
This is why I don't drive behind trucks with objects like this on the back. There's no telling when the next time something like this will happen, but thankfully, this lady made it out safe.
This car's windshield saved the day. There's no telling what could have happened if this windshield was just a little less strong. Also, why was there a loose ax in the back of a truck? That just doesn't seem like a good idea.
A Good Reason To Own A Hatchback
Not all cars are equal. If this was a regular sedan, there would be no back. This hatchback owner luckily dodged destruction thanks to the lack of extra vehicle in the back.
Sometimes it pays to have a little less junk in the trunk. Also, sometimes it pays not to park so close to giant trees during windy season. This person just got their yearly dose of good luck. They should be extra careful for the next few months.
Safety Glasses Save The Day
Well, here is a prime example showing why you should wear safety specs when working in certain situations. A piece of angle grinder disc almost pierced his eye, but the glasses saved the day.
The company that makes these safety glasses should use this picture in their advertising campaigns. I've never seen an ad for safety glasses before, but maybe I would buy safety glasses if I saw a picture like this on a billboard.
The Door Caught The Pitcher
The fridge and I would have had some serious issues had it not caught this pitcher. Why is the pitcher even ready to fall out of the fridge in the first place? Who put it in there wrong?
This person could have had red Kool-Aid all over the inside of the fridge, the floor of their kitchen, and their clothes. All of that was averted because of some lucky timing. They'll probably thing twice about the placement of this pitcher in the fridge next time.
Chainsaw Almost Had His Leg
This outdated Android device saved a man's leg from a chainsaw. By the looks of it, it was a closer call than you can imagine, and the guy probably still hasn't recovered from the shock. This Android did a good job, although if this were an old school Nokia phone, the chain saw probably wouldn't have even made a dent in it.
We're just glad that this guy still has his leg and that all of his arteries are intact.
Dodging My Exes Like...
This is some Matrix-style stuff right here. That stingray looks like it was ready to pounce but this woman was way too quick.
When you get that midnight text from your ex, you need to dodge it with grace like this woman evaded this sea creature. She summoned all of her limbo abilities for this one. Sometimes stingrays like to get a little too close for comfort. You just have to lean back and let them sail past.
The Olsen Sisters Almost Show Too Much
Wind can get deceptive. For Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, they almost gave the red carpet a show they weren't prepared to see. Thank goodness they caught their dresses before it was too late.
Women who wear dresses have to have lightning-fast reflexes like this. Otherwise, you never know when a gust of wind could pick up and threaten your dignity. If you're slower on your feet, just stick to a pair of trousers. The wind can't do anything to pants.
The Indecisive Lamp
Both car owners dodged one here! This lamp didn't know whose day to ruin, so it settled for nothing. Indecision leads to failure, so this light post failed on all levels.
It could have taken out two separate cars if it wanted. It's a good thing for these car owners that the lamp couldn't make up its mind. Both cars got to drive away from this incident unscarred and unscathed. They lived to drive another day.
Being Late Saved Someone Else
The car that fell and the person who owns it had a bad day, but the person who took this picture didn't. Due to being late by a few seconds, the other person barely missed this car falling on their head.
How did this car even manage to do this? Was it parked and it just slid off of the platform or did somebody forget to follow the arrows in this parking garage? We may never know the answer.
Almost Crushed Your Son
This kid must really love his dad. He fell asleep on the mat outside of the shower and this father admitted to almost stepping on his kid. How do you think that would have felt?
These are the dad reflexes you never knew you needed to develop. Kids are super clumsy and they like to lie in places they're not supposed to lie. This tired kid got very lucky. Although if he did get stepped on, he probably would have picked this spot as a napping spot again.
Nail Gun Misses Vital Body Parts
Two nails shot by a nail gun enter a man's body. They stop at his knee but barely miss his femur and his kneecap. That's the kind of luck we all need.
These nails could have easily broken his bones but they went in between his bones instead. I mean, it would have been better if he hadn't shot himself with a nail gun at all, but hey, you win some and you lose some.
Brother Almost Tells On Himself
Some of you will get this one. We'll explain a little further if you don't understand. This kid asked his dad if he could bring him back some stuff but by accident.
He employed some quick thinking tactics though. He pretended that he meant to text his dad about Gatorade. Do you think dad bought it? It seems plausible enough. But why would this kid randomly ask for Gatorade when that wasn't even what they were talking about?
Works Out Great For Both
Posting someone you aren't sure you'll be with in a year from now on your social media is tricky. Thankfully, the sun or God helped these two out just how they wanted.
Although come on guy, you shouldn't be seeing two girls at once unless everyone in that situation is informed about what is going on and consents to being in a polyamorous situation. I guess sometimes the sun itself likes to reward bad behavior.
The Shark Thought She Wasn't Tasty Enough
Scientists say that a shark can detect the ratio of fat to bone and whether it's worth eating or not during the initial bite. This girl didn't make the cut but has an excellent mark.
This is the best way to get bitten by a shark (if you're going to get bitten by a shark at all). The share just gave her a little love bite. This could have ended rely badly but the girl escaped with a minor flesh wound.
Foot Cream For Toothpaste
That tube looks too much like toothpaste for my liking. I'm glad this person didn't fall victim to it, but this athlete's foot cream brand needs to find a better tube. The shape of the packaging, the shiny blue color, the textured lid, and the fact that it starts with the letter "A" like "Aquafresh" is throwing us for a loop.
You definitely don't want a mouth full of athlete's foot cream. That would be pretty gross.
Close Call
I bet this man never felt more relief in his life to find out his fingers didn't get chopped. Seriously, how close can you get to destruction without anything happening?
This is why you should always wear work gloves when you're working in a woodshop. Also, your machines should have safety stops on them so you don't accidentally cut off your fingers. So many bad and scary things can happen when you're working in a woodshop.
Making It Home In The Nick Of Time
Forgetting to shut off the faucet can cause a lot of water damage to your home. Thankfully, this person returned home quickly enough to prevent anything from spilling over and causing mayhem.
The faucet had to be left on and the drain had to be plugged for the sink to get this full. Maybe this person should take better care of their appliances. It's a good thing they made it home in the nick of time, though.
A Drain Saves The Day Again
Dropping your keys into the sewer is the worst. Unless you keep your spare on you, you probably have to spend some money to get your car door unlocked. Thank goodness this drain played nice.
This person will probably be a lot more careful with their keys around sewers from now on. Fate was nice to them on this day, but next time it may not be so forgiving. Those sewer grates are going to get us all one day.
Noticed Before Brushing
Wow! Thank goodness this person didn't start their day off with a bug in their mouth! Why this little guy wanted to nestle into a toothbrush doesn't make sense, but now I'm keeping everything even cleaner!
This is absolutely terrifying. It makes me never want to brush my teeth ever again. You better believe I'm going to be checking my toothbrush several times tonight before I put it in my mouth. Does anybody else have goosebumps?
He Would Have Figured It Out Soon Enough
Even if he didn't notice it at first, we bet soon enough this person would have caught on to it. Dog butt adds a certain tang to a thermometer in case you didn't know.
It's a really good thing that this thermometer is labeled or else this person could have ended up with a pretty gross object in and around his mouth. Let's all give the person who labeled this thing in dark and clearly legible Sharpie a round of applause.
Not Today, Fire Hydrant
This is divine intervention. This person almost hit the fire hydrant and made things 100 times worse. Sliding off the road is already bad, but adding insult to injury takes it over the top.
They're still in a pickle and it's still the middle of winter, but at least their car didn't smash into a hard yellow object. Their bumper is still intact and nobody got hurt. That's all you can ask for, really. Winter is going to winter.
Still Got To Enjoy Ice Cream
Hey, as long as it didn't touch the floor, you can eat the ice cream. This person caught his vanilla at the last moment, and probably enjoyed it more than usual.
The only thing worse than spilled milk is spilled ice cream. Spilled milk may not be worth crying over, but spilled ice cream is. Luckily, no tears were shed on this day. That ice cream ended up in somebody's belly which is exactly where it belongs.
We Wood Rather This Not Have Happened
The fact that the only thing hurting after this incident is whoever's wallet had to pay for this is a miracle because it could've been a whole lot worse than just a broken windshield.
How did this even happen? It looks like that plank of wood completely slid under the windshield. The window isn't caved in, it's kind of enveloping the glass. Where did the wood even come from? We have so many unanswered questions.
Your Mechanic Isn't Going To Be Happy
It's certainly not the leisurely Sunday drive you were expecting to have but as long as there wasn't anyone sitting in the passenger seat you should thank your lucky stars.
We're not sure where this giant object came from or how it ended up through the back of this car, but we're just glad that everyone was able to walk away from this incident with all of their body parts intact. This was a close call.
While You Were Sleeping
When something like this happens, all you can do is be happy that it happened in the middle of the day and not while you were sound asleep in your bedroom.
Is that a tree? How did a tree fall vertically through this house? The wind must have been really strong that day. Well, let's just hope that these people have good home insurance. It looks like it's going to cost a pretty penny to fix this ceiling.
Bending Over Backwards
You know the saying "you can't go under it, you can't go over it, so you have to go through it"? In this case, the truck decided to go over it and ended up looking like a slinky.
The truck driver shouldn't have attempted this stunt at all. Some bridges just aren't built for trucks, especially during the winter under icy conditions. Luckily nobody was seriously injured, but this could have been a lot worse.
Talk About Off-Roading
Jeeps are meant to be able to handle rougher terrain but that doesn't mean their drivers are equipped for a situation like a tree branch spiking its way through the bottom of the vehicle.
This could have been really bad for the driver. If that tree branch had just gone an inch further up it would have caught him between the legs. Luckily he and all of his important body parts walked out of the car unharmed.
Cutting It Close
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why you should always be properly dressed when using power tools. Don't leave it up to the saw to decide whether or not you have a left arm.
Luckily the saw just cut through his shirt and didn't get any of his skin, but you better believe that this guy is going to be wearing chain mail the next time he breaks out the circular saw. This was a really close call.
Waste Of A Perfectly Good Beer
Does this count as a hole in one? If you've ever been hit with a golf ball at full speed you know that it hurts, so this was worth the wasted beer.
I'd much rather have a golf ball embedded in my beer can than a golf ball embedded in my thigh. This guy could have had some serious bruising. Golf is supposed to be a peaceful sport, but sometimes things like this happen on the field.
They See Me Rollin'
The giant boulder may have wrecked part of the property and left a huge trail through the fields, but we're positive that they would rather that than have the boulder roll through their home.
That is a huge boulder. It kind of looks like Patrick's house from Spongebob Squarepants. Do you think Patrick was behind this disaster? It does seem like something that might happen to him accidentally. We're just glad that the boulder didn't tear its way through that very nice house.
You Couldn't Have Planned It Better
There were tons of spots in this empty parking lot that they would've preferred this tree have landed, but all that really matters is it didn't land a few feet further to the right.
This car could have chosen any one of those spots, but it happened to be parked in the spot right next to the fallen tree. Let's all make a mental note to park as far away from big trees as possible.
Whale Whale Whale, What Do We Have Here?
They're still in the splash zone, so this sailor definitely got soaked, but better to get a little wet than to have your boat capsized by a giant whale doing a belly flop.
This is the luckiest you could possibly be while at sea. These people got to see a huge whale breaching up close, but the whale didn't destroy their ship. Not many people get to experience the rare honor. I'm kind of jealous of these people.
Along For The Ride
This person drove 20 minutes home from work without realizing that they'd left their camera sitting on the back of their truck. Miraculously, the camera made it the entire way home with them without falling off.
That looks like a very expensive camera. It's probably over $400. Bad things could have happened if that camera had fallen off the back of the truck. This person probably learned an important lesson about taking care of his belongings.
No Need To Panic
Even if you know that there isn't a lot of merit behind the fortunes in your fortune cookie, receiving a fortune that says you're cursed with bad luck for all of eternity is not ideal. They redeemed themselves though with that backtracking fortune.
We've never seen a negative fortune cookie before. Usually, the fortunes aren't really fortunes at all. They're just weird sayings that don't really make any sense. This guy got really unlucky, and then he got really lucky. The lesson: always have a second cookie.
"Close Call" Doesn't Seem Accurate Enough
There's a close call in an accident, and then there's this. Would it have been that big of a shame for something to damage a car this color? Not necessarily, but a damage-free car is still preferred.
Still, they have to lift the tree off of this car before it can drive away. Let's just hope that whoever removes this tree does so very, very carefully. That green car is still in the line of danger.
That's A Chameleon, Not A Dog
You either need to get a new rug for the floor or get some dog-friendly hair dye, because this is going to end in disaster one day. Luckily, that day was not today.
That dog is going to get stepped on at some point. It's just a matter of time. Why did he choose to sleep on the thing that's the exact same color and texture as him? Does he like blending into his surroundings or something?
A Debit Card Can't Do That
His great-grandfather was shot in the chest during World War 1, but lucky for him he had a handful of coins in his pocket that stopped the bullet and saved his life. Naturally, he chose to save those coins rather than spend them.
What a fantastic keepsake. Those damaged coins are now worth far more than their initial value. These are life-saving coins. They should get a war medal or something. Coins used to be a lot thicker than they are now.
Seconds Away From Disaster
If this man had come home even a few minutes later, he would've been coming home to a very different scene in his kitchen.
An hour later and he could've been looking at a wading pool on his floor. Heck, just a few minutes later and there would have been a major mess to clean up.
This Is Why You Don't Call Shotgun
Getting to ride shotgun might have been something you liked to fight over with your siblings, but if this has taught us anything, it's that you should let your brother have the passenger seat.
The passenger seat is not the safest place to be when the are sheets of metal falling from the sky. The people in the back seat are a lot better off in situations like these. Unless, of course, a sheet of metal were to crash through the back window.
Watch Your Step
Always watch where you're stepping when you're out in the woods unless you want to end up stepping on a sleeping snake or any other creature that's laying in wait, minding its own business like this guy here.
That snake looks like it's ready to strike. The camouflage may work for them in most situations, but when they're trying to avoid heavy human feet, it's actually working against them. Both the snake and the guy who took this picture walked away unharmed.
Two Very Different Outcomes
Companies should not be allowed to make product packaging that looks this similar for two products that do such vastly different things to your body. This is asking for trouble.
Come on Rexall, you can do better than this. Let's just hope that whoever needs to take a sleep aid is awake enough not to tiredly confuse these two boxes. Laxatives are never all that gentle. This is a disaster waiting to happen. Always read the label.
Luck Was On Their Side
Whoever has to pay to fix that lamp is not going to be happy about it, but it's better than also having to pay to fix the car that this lamp post might have landed on.
Obviously, it's not just the cost that matters here. Everyone involved in this bizarre situation is so lucky to have gotten out without injury! That's absolutely amazing because that light looks like it weighs a literal ton.
