Funny Baby Photoshoot Fails That Made Us Smile
There's something many parents don't realize about capturing a baby's best moments during a photoshoot. Professional photographers can spend hours trying to capture just the right frame. If you decide to venture out on your own and take pictures of your little bundle of joy, you probably can't expect the same results that a professional will deliver. These parents attempted to recreate popular baby photoshoot scenarios and they failed miserably.
Bad Aim Ruined This Baby's Photo Shoot
This was nearly a successful photo shoot. However, it's yet more proof that you probably won't nail your baby photo shoot on the first try. If you have your camera on a timer or you're trying a selfie shot you are probably going to fail.
At the same time, we actually love this photo because it shows a real side of life that the professional photographer didn't capture in the same way. When all else fails, go for simple instead of a staged photo that needs to be executed perfectly.
Why Do Parents Keep Trying To Put Their Babies Inside Of Fruits And Veggies?
Watermelon is a delicious summer treat. You know what it isn't? The perfect place to put your child when you want to take photos. The baby on the right is way too big for the watermelon they are sitting in and their face show's they are not happy with their parents' decision to place them inside the watermelon's rind.
They are really going to be unhappy when they are then forced to take a bath to wash off a big sticky mess. Nice try mom and dad but let's leave this type of photo shoot to the professionals.
Like Mother Like Daughter, Sort Of
This mother and daughter pair decided to re-enact a very popular Pinterest posting. Unfortunately, the little girl on the right didn't quite understand what it meant to re-create a photo they found online. Mom looks beautiful in the photo and her daughter looks like a total goofball.
It might be a re-creation fail but it's a really funny photo we would be happy to call our own. Good job mom and daughter, even if the idea was a failure in some way. It's still a photo they're sure to treasure for years to come.
Get This Flower Off My Head Right Now!
You can't always get your little bundle of joy to fully cooperate with your photo shoot. The little girl on the left seems to love the bow in their hair while the child on the right is ready to start a fight with their parents.
Admittedly, the re-creation made us laugh out loud because it perfectly sums up how hard it can be to take amazing baby photos. We can't say it enough, hire a professional for all of your baby photo needs if you have the means to do so.
That's An Unfortunate Choking Hazard
Please don't place your child in a bowl that does nothing but serve as a giant choking hazard. How the photographer on the left managed to get the baby to take a nap inside a candy bowl is a mystery to us.
The child on the right looks like they are sinking in a giant quicksand-like bowl of candy. We do have to hand it to the parents of the re-creation for managing to keep their child upright while taking the photo. It could have been a bad scene if the baby's face had sunk lower into the bowl.
Do You Even Know How To Use Socks, Mom?
Entire bodies don't belong in socks and the baby on the right understands this universal truth. They must have been kicking like crazy to get out of their sock prison. Despite a less than perfect setup, the baby in the re-creation doesn't seem angry that mom and dad chose to shove them into something that is normally worn on a foot.
Baby photo shoots are hard and this proves that point yet again. We guess parents are just not ever going to understand this until they've experienced their own failed photo shoots.
The Hand-Off
This photo shoot recreation didn't end up being a total fail in retrospect. The top photo shows a teeny newborn being passed from the mother to the father. Because of its tiny size, the baby curls up to the perfect size to fit in their hands! The bottom recreation is just as adorable, however, the nuance is totally different!
The baby on the bottom is looking directly at the camera, probably as a signal to the photographer that they feel like they're going to be dropped. The face screams, "Help me!" Funny and cute!
So Storks Must Deliver In Boxes Now
Look what just arrived in the mail! Your cute little baby! The photo shoot on the left is probably trying to emulate the baby's arrival to the family. A package or a gift from God, if you will. The recreation on the right had the same idea, but it came out in the most hilarious way.
The parents put their baby girl in a box full of packing peanuts, but their little peanut looks confused! Hey, at least she's not crying. She looks so still, in fact, that that may not even be a real baby.
It Was All Going Well Until...
This photo shoot looks like it was going successfully. A happy and proud dad cradles their naked baby in his strong, protective arms. They got a good shot, but you know what you're at risk for when you're shooting with a naked baby. Bombs away!
The parents got more than they bargained for with this photo shoot! The funny part is that the baby is smiling in the right photo! We love how the expressions on both of their faces change from one picture to the next. Hey, at least they got a shot before all of that came out!
Making Snow Angels
Talk about a winter wonderland! The baby photo shoot at the top looks like a great idea if you have easy access to snow. The parents stuffed their baby in a snowsuit that they probably added extra padding to so that their baby wouldn't get too cold while laying in the snow. They even made the imprint of a snow angel for full effect!
The recreation on the bottom almost accomplished the same result, except for the fact that the babies started crying. They probably couldn't handle the cold. But their matching snow suits are still to die for!
A Morning Cup Of Joy
This looks like a fun baby photo idea! Taking a picture of a coffee mug with your baby in the background to make it look like your baby is in the cup! It's all about perspective with this one.
The mother in the right photo almost nailed it, save for the fact that her baby started crying! The hilarious fail makes it look like the baby is not pleased to be dipped in a mug of hot beverage! The photo on the left pulled it off perfectly, as the mom got both the baby and mug in the whole picture—with a cute background to boot!
In All Fairness, She's Much Younger Than The Original Girl
The girl on the left appears to be considerably older than the little girl on the right. It's much easier to give directions to a kindergarten-aged child than a little kid. This is one of those photo shoot scenarios a parent can happily share though because it really shows a day in the life of their child.
Regardless of the outcome, the little girl on the right has adorable little pigtails and the look on her face is priceless.
Babies Are Always Put In Soft Situations
The photo on the top is a classic. Usually, newborns are pictured in adorable outfits and sleeping on what looks like a sheepskin rug. The soft environment is perfect for capturing your baby without them having to start crying because they are so at peace! The same cannot be said of the recreation on the bottom.
In the hilarious photo, the parents had the right idea, but their baby was not cooperating. The baby looks so over photo shoots and does not want to give their parents the satisfaction. The baby is probably already thinking about the meaning of life and how they will be an angsty teen.
Help I'm Trapped In A Pumpkin!
If you placed an adult in a giant pumpkin they would probably be freaking out too! It's cold inside of the pumpkin and really slimy. Plus, the baby on the right seems jammed into the pumpkin with their little legs having nowhere to go. The background in this photo is also really dark, making the confinement of the baby seem even more constricted.
Pro tip: Don't try to shove your child into a piece of fruit or a vegetable, it probably won't go well if you don't do it for a living.
It Was Almost Perfect
Unlike some of the other photoshoot fails on this list, this one was almost perfect! Here the photographer has the father laying on his stomach, with his new baby laying in a similar position on top of him.
The photographer was just about to snap the perfect photo when the baby couldn't hold it any longer. We're sure that Dad is used to this by now. Looks like they'll have to clean up and try for a second take.
I Think This Small Child Became Trapped In The Lights
We had to include another Christmas light photo shoot to serve as a warning to parents. This child not only hates the lights but it appears they have become trapped in the elaborate photo shoot. The look on their face basically screams, "I'm going to get even with you one day mom and dad."
Also, what's up with the hat this baby is wearing on the right? We're going to guess this photo shoot happened at the last moment and without a lot of thought put into it. To be fair, the baby on the left looks like they are about to eat a Christmas light bulb when it's plugged into the wall and turned on! A fail all around for these two baby photo shoots.
This Baby Is Still Adorable In Their Own Way
The baby on the right is missing Frosty the Snowman's signature top hat and it looks like their nose is under a lot of stress. This is actually one of the better photos on our list because the child at least isn't freaking out or attempting to precariously balance on an object not meant for babies.
If they grow up to hate winter we will totally understand where they are coming from given this early childhood memory and a photo that serves as a constant reminder of this moment in time.
Reasons To Always Keep Your Mouth Closed
It's always classic to photograph new parents with their babies laying on top of them. This mother and her son pretty much nailed it the first time around. But perhaps they got a little overzealous in trying to take a few extra for good measure because the baby boy didn't tell his mum about what was about to go down!
The unsuspecting mom was probably smiling away when her son gave her a big surprise! But this hilarious photo fail just goes to show the reality of new parenthood. If you're about to become a parent, you have been warned.
The Men Of The Household
This looks like it would have been an adorable photo shoot. The dad looks so proud to be holding his new baby but his young son is less than impressed by their new sibling. The dad probably didn't know what was going on as it was happening, but the kid knew right away—his facial expression says it all!
The kid is probably thinking, "See? I told you it wasn't a good idea to have a new kid! You could have at least put clothes on him!" We're sure the parents can't wait to see how their kids get along.
This Baby Looks Ready For A Fight
If you are going to put your child in a dress shirt and bowtie you better be sure they are comfortable with their ensemble. The little boy on the left looks thrilled while the child on the right looks like a real-life version of the 3D movie Baby Boss.
Maybe it's not a bad thing that the baby in the remake of the original photo looks like he means all business. Perhaps in the future, this little guy will be a big wig boss who takes on an all-business approach to running his business.
Looks Like A Simple Shot
At first glance, most people would probably assume that the photo on the left would be a really easy one to get. Just toss a soft blanket over any baby’s head and let his cherubic smile do the rest, right?
Unfortunately for the parents of the tot on the right, it turns out that filters and Photoshop are a major part of creating such a sweet picture. The other kid looks downright evil compared to the edited baby on the left, with his angry and sinister “I’m gonna git you sucka” facial expression and ruddy complexion.
Who Can Blame Him? He's Wrapped In Electrical Wiring
This baby seems to recognize the fact that mom and dad wrapped him in a bunch of electrical wiring attached to lights. He can't escape at the moment and his parents are doing nothing to help the situation, instead choosing to photograph him as he looks on and cries.
If you're going to wrap your child in lights you can probably expect the same type of results. In the least, their parents could have made sure the lights were not going to freak him out before they started taking photos of the poor little guy.
Help, I'm Trapped
Professional photographers spend their days posing babies and they know what works and what fails spectacularly. The baby on the left probably got placed in the netting only to follow asleep seconds later.
The baby on the right looks like they are trying desperately to find their way out of a pretty hairy situation. The trick here would have been to find the right type of quilted netting to allow the baby to comfortably rest inside.
Too Many Kisses!!!
Kissing a baby a bunch of times can make them giggle. Conversely, it could also make them scream out loud for an entire photo shoot. The baby on the left loved the kisses they received. The baby on the right would have rather taken a nap then received more than a dozen kisses.
Baby photographers can spend hours getting the best picture possible because they are patient, parents, on the other hand, will jump right behind the camera with no patience at all.
God Bless America
You have to give these parents credit for being patriotic. Perhaps it was the 4th of July or Memorial Day. Whatever the holiday, they wanted to show off their son posing happily in front of the American flag. It's particularly adorable because he's naked and only wearing sunglasses.
Well, baby number one looks very happy sitting on the floor in the buff wearing his shades. But baby number two is definitely not happy to have his bare tush rubbing against the wooden floor. The expression on his face says it all. We can't blame him. Maybe it was cold inside?
Makes You Want To Vomit
Babies have no control over their orifices. If they have to go, they go. If they have to vomit, they vomit. And that's just what happened to this poor little guy as he was being photographed by his very patient parents. Mom, obviously, was absolutely tickled by the incident. She is practically laughing her head off after her son threw up on dad's hair. It's a good lesson, actually.
Parents have to deal with a lot of things in life, so she should start getting used to it early. As for poor dad, he's probably been covered in vomit, and other stuff, already. So what's new?
Unhappy Big Brother
Oftentimes, kids beg their parents for a baby brother or sister. They can't wait to welcome a new member into the family home so they have someone to play with (and someone to tease!) But not everyone wants a sibling. Some kids are perfectly happy being only children. Take this kid.
Mom and dad forced him to hold a picture of the sonogram, and he is not happy. In fact, he's downright miserable. The kid on the left looks thrilled to be a big brother. The kid on the right is crying and breaking down. Perhaps he doesn't want his parent's attention on anyone else?
Carrot Gone Awry
Parents love dressing their babies up for the holidays. While Christmas is a favorite, so is Easter. There are so many possibilities and so many costumes mom and dad can put on their tiny little bundle of joy. And then there are the props. There are so many props! And because Easter bunnies eat carrots, why not put a carrot on your baby?
It sounds like a good idea. And the photo on the left is quite adorable. The baby is obediently holding a carrot and wearing a bunny hat. But baby on the right somehow managed to put the vegetable on his head instead.
Disturbed Sailor
There's something about sailor costumes that make parents get very excited. Perhaps it's the adorable little hat, which often includes a tiny anchor on it? Whatever the case, costumes look great if the infant is happy. If the infant is not happy, they can be a little disturbing. Check out the little boy on the right. He is pleased as punch in his little sailor suit.
The baby on the right, however, looks very uncomfortable. There's something not quite right about his expression. We're sure this isn't the look his parents were aiming for when the dressed him up in a special outfit for photo day.
Love & Kisses
What's cuter than surrounding your little baby with Hershey kisses? It's a cute concept. Kisses are delicious and something you always want to give your baby. But sometimes the execution of a plan doesn't work as you imagined. Baby on the left is sleeping on its tummy with a giant Hershey kiss on her tush.
Baby on the right is placed in a similar position, but instead of sleeping she's crying. She is not having any of it. Although the infant is surrounded by love, that isn't stopping her from making her feelings known. The baby is probably just hungry and has no time for posing.
Book Lover
Everybody knows babies can't read, but there's something so adorable about watching them flip the pages of a tiny Beatrix Potter book or even a comic book. The baby on the left seems really absorbed in his Spider-Man comic book. His dad is probably a fan of Marvel. In reality, he either just likes the pictures or is enthralled with the feel of the pages.
The baby on the right also has a book in his hands, but he's paying absolutely no attention to it. But he does seem to be enjoying himself. He looks pretty happy, and that's really what you're looking for in a photo shoot.
Feeling Grumpy, Not Festive
Everyone can relate to this little guy. He seems to be thinking, "Oh, brother. Do you want me to pose for yet another photo?" We've all been there. You get together with the family for the holidays, and everyone wants to take photos.
After a while, you've had enough. Both babies are wearing adorable red and white candy cane hats, but baby on the left seems to be having a good time. He has a string of lights to play with and is lighting up the room with his perky smile. Baby on the left is the opposite. Maybe he just needs a good nap.
(Almost) All Clean After A Bath
Some of the most iconic baby photos include an infant snuggling up to their blanket or wrapped up in a towel after spending some time in the tub. It's a very simple photo, but apparently harder to accomplish than you'd think. Baby on the left is so pretty and snugglable in her yellow towel.
The baby on the left almost had the perfect shot until vomit started dripping from her mouth. Poor thing. She probably required a second bath to get clean again. And it's always sad when a baby isn't feeling well. Hopefully, her parents eventually got the photo they wanted.
Mommy's Ballerina
For some reason, a lot of moms like dressing their infants in ballet costumes. There's something about the tutu and hair accessories that just scream, "Put me on a baby!" Baby on the left looks so innocent, calm and content in her pink ballerina-inspired costume with a matching ribbon and flower head band. The baby on the right just looks awkward.
We think mom is partially to blame. The purple tutu is a little loud compared to the pink one. However, it's the baby's expression that makes this photo so epic. Her eyes are super wide, and her tongue is sticking out. She's a wild child in the making!
Breakfast Baby
Another thing that some new parents like to do is put their infants into containers to photograph them. Why not use a glass bowl? With cereal in it? Won't that be cute? Well, if you have the perfect model infant, it could be.
It appears as if the baby simply wondered into the kitchen and somehow managed to get itself in a giant bowl of cereal while spilling very little. That's fantasy. The reality is shoving your infant into a bowl and having it howl in return because she doesn't like being squished inside a bowl. Poor thing is so unhappy.
Santa Baby
There's something irresistible about babies wearing hats. It really doesn't matter what kind of hat they wear because it's always cute. The cute factor multiplies when the hat is just slightly too big. And when you add a holiday theme, it's even more adorable. Baby on the left is your typical Christmas infant. Big eyes. Big hat.
The baby on the right, well, we're not sure what kind of eyes she has because the giant Santa hat is covering her face. It's obvious that the hat is way too big for her tiny infant head. The parents probably never got the photo they wanted.
Mommy's Heels
Isn't it great when kids try on their parent's clothing? Usually, it's toddlers who run around and put on mommy's shoes. But apparently, you can put them on your infant too. We think the photo on the left is nearly as awkward as the photo on the right. It's obvious that an infant can't put on high heels by herself.
So Santa, who's off screen, naturally helps baby stand up in the stilettos. Baby on the left doesn't look thrilled. Maybe it's the giant flower on her head or maybe it's the fact that she can't even walk yet but is forced to wear heels.
Stocking Stuffer
Here is another photo of a baby stuffed in a stocking. We understand the concept. The small infant, so adorable, fits neatly inside a Christmas stocking. It's almost like a baby sleeping bag. And props like this are standard in Christmas photos. But, naturally, in reality, things don't always work as planned.
The baby on the right actually looks scared. It's either because he's stuffed inside the stocking or because he can't stand the two enormous puff balls affixed to the side of his head. At least he followed directions and held on to the pretty red bow.
Pumpkin Pout
And once again, here's another photo of an infant in a pumpkin. Some parents think this is hysterical. They love the idea of carving a pumpkin and making leg holes so they can put their baby inside of it. It's a baby pumpkin! Well, while the thought counts the execution is proof that some babies don't like being inserted into food products. Can you really blame them?
The baby on the left is all smiles and seemingly delighted to have pumpkin on her butt. Baby on the right is the complete opposite. He isn't happy at all to be stuck inside a slimy gourd.
Love Sandwich
We love photos where mom and dad kiss their babies. It's a beautiful thing. But sometimes, again, the infant has to go and mess things up. The photo on the left perfectly illustrates the love that parents have for their newborn. They simultaneously kiss the baby on her cheeks.
The parents in the photo on the right are doing the same thing. Only this time, the baby doesn't have a content look on its face. Instead, it's terrified. While there's probably no such thing as too much love, sometimes it's hard to be manipulated just for a photograph.
Holiday Hater
Baby on the left is perfectly content to gnaw on some holiday lights for a Christmas picture. It's really a cute shot; although, we can't help but wonder if it was a good idea to let the baby chew on an electrical cord. Anyway, the baby on the left is also wrapped up in lights, but his reaction is completely different.
While he apparently agreed to hold on to a Christmas ball, he refused to smile for the camera. He's just not having it. This is probably not the photo selected by the family for their annual Christmas card. Oh, well. Maybe next year.
Fashion Critic
Moms who are crafty often peruse websites like Pinterest to find ideas. Sometimes they see the perfect thing to make their child, but it doesn't come out exactly like they expected. The little girl on the left looks quite adorable in her blue and green tutu with the peacock accents. She seems happy in her little costume.
The girl on the right is definitely not happy. We can't tell if it's because she thinks mom made a shoddy tutu or because she's wearing pants under it. Either way, she's defiantly sitting on the floor and bawling in protest. Oh, the humanity!
Stacking Siblings Is A Non-Starter
Here's more proof that the sweet, staged photo of siblings posing in order of birth never works out. While Pinterest might fool you into thinking that you can get all of your kids to lay still, smile, and behave during this photo shoot, the reality is that it's nearly impossible.
Clearly, a parent saw this cute photo of three sisters and wanted to recreate it with their three kids. Two of the three are happy, the third, not so much, as they baby barf on their sisters' back. You have to admit though, middle sis is taking it in stride!
Don't Put All Your Eggs In One Basket
While the baby on the left looks perfectly at peace with all his Easter egg winnings, the baby on the right looks overwhelmed. Perhaps the baby on the right is frustrated because they were put into an actual Easter basket, while the baby on the left looks like it was placed in a much bigger bassinet or a tub.
That would allow for the Easter eggs to spread more evenly around the happy baby, as opposed to being dumped on the poor little guy! Still, this looks like a lovely gift from the Easter bunny!
Speaking Of The Easter Bunny
This photo shoot was meant to show a peaceful baby with cute bunny ears. The top photo shows a peacefully sleeping newborn with a cozy bunny-ear hat. The parents in the bottom picture had the right idea, but sadly their version didn't translate! Maybe it's because the bottom baby is much older and more active.
They're just laying there like, "What are we doing? And what are these ears?! I want to crawl around and play!" Perhaps the baby has no time for lay around for the photo shoot because they want to look for Easter eggs!
Get Me Out Of This Ridiculous Basket
Baby in a basket with a blanket? It might seem like something very easy to pull off but in reality, it's a very hard task. The child in the photo shoot re-creation looks ready to pick a fight with their parents over this photo.
Regardless, this child is adorable, anger and all. Just remember all you moms and dads, photography is harder than it looks on Pinterest and this should serve as a reminder of that fact for all of your baby's future photo shoots.
It Never Fails
According to every photographer who specializes in baby shoots, pee and poop are just a normal part of the process. It happens in every single shoot. Here, it looks like the proud mama was able to avoid getting sprayed in the face by her precious cargo, but the ground and the bottom of her dress didn’t escape unharmed.
Hey, at least all (well, most) of these parents seem to have a great sense of humor about being used like human toilets! I bet a lot of them had dreams about potty training after these particular photo shoots.
Globophobia Is Real
Globophobia, or the fear of balloons, is a real diagnosed condition. If this little baby in the crib didn't have globophobia before this photo shoot, they probably do now. On top of everything going on, they have also been trapped inside of a crib. We're not surprised this photo shoot didn't go as planned.
Despite a failed attempt, it's a fun photo for their parents to remind themselves that they are not professional photographers. Maybe this baby also has scopophobia, the fear of having their photo taken.
