DIY Hair-Dye Fails That Will Have You Thinking Twice Before Opening Box Dye
Sometimes, beauty is best left to the professionals, especially when it comes to hair coloring. Just take it from these people who decided, "Hey, why not try to dye my hair at home?" Well, these pictures explain the answer to that question better than any words.
She Doesn't Seem Too Happy With Her Orange Roots
Honestly, all anyone has to do is look at this poor woman's face; it alone should deter people from trying any and all things that have to do with DIY hair dyeing.
It's not even clear what she was attempting to do. Was everything supposed to be orange, or was she trying an Ombre thing? The world may never know.
Just Trust The Process...Oh, Wait
This poor fella went through the entire process of dyeing his hair blue, of all colors, only to have absolutely nothing happen in the long run. Seriously, he dealt with one of the messier dye colors only to have a splotch of skin turn blue.
Sir, ask for your money back.
Nothing Like A Bit Of Purple Hair Dye To Brighten Up The Skin
It looks as though this girl dyed everything purple but her hair. Those at-home dye boxes really need to come with a warning label that says, "rinse hair out, do NOT take a shower with it still in your hair, or else you'll look like an Oompa Loompa."
Who are we to judge, though. Maybe that was the ultimate goal.
Just Over Here Living Her Best Orange Life
While her hair isn't the worst DIY job but there, it's still not great. The orange is definitely on the orangey-er side, and it really doesn't help that she wore a matching dress.
Didn't anyone ever tell her subtlety can be the best quality in a person, especially if they're having a bad hair day?
And The Walmart Bag Imprint Isn't Even The Worst Part
After dyeing hair, it's important to keep the heat in so the color has an easier time penetrating the hair. For many people doing DIY coloring, this heat source is typically plastic wrap or even a plastic bag.
This person, unfortunately, opted for a Walmart bag, which dyed itself on her bleached hair. Walmart-1, This Person-0.
So, Was The Towel Purple To Begin With?
Purple hair dye is no joke. It gets everywhere! Especially if a person decides to do the worst thing imaginable and take a shower while the dye is still in their hair!
Folks, just rinse it out. Otherwise, you'll wind up like this girl and look like an eggplant reject.
She Should Have Stuck With The Blue
When DIY coloring at home is already a hard process, why in the world did this person go on ahead and think they could do a dual dye job with blue and yellow?
Considering how cool that blue color is, she really should have just stuck with that color. Well, you live and learn!
Not All Ombre Is Created Equal
At-home Ombre should be illegal, and all packaging advertising Ombre should have this photo inside with the directions as a warning. This poor girl has a literal line going across her hair!
It's definitely going to take a professional to fix this epic disaster, and it's most likely the last time this person tries anything at home.
She looks Like Ursula's Emotional Sister
If that green was a bit more vibrant and covered her entire head, it has the potential to be pretty cool. Alas, she is stuck with this muted color and concerned facial expression that makes her look like the Little Mermaid's Ursula's overly emotional younger sister.
It's okay, dear, just head on over to a salon.
She Even Curled It...
Honestly, the worst part about this DIY hair-dye job isn't the fact that the Ombre is in a literal line across her hair; it's the fact that she went ahead and styled it with some fun curls on the bottom.
Seriously, put the curling iron down and go to a salon.
Big, Big Walmart Fan
This person's mistake should be a warning to everyone thinking about bleaching their hair at home -- don't use a bag that has anything printed on it! Because, now, everything is going to think this person is the biggest Walmart fan in the world!
Here's to hoping it looks like funky blue stripes when it dries.
Obviously, She Wanted To Become A Smurf
Blue is one of the messier colors out there. Not only does the dye get everywhere and stay everywhere, but it also stains. Case and point, this person's face and hand.
She probably wishes she wore the gloves the boxed dye supplied. That was mistake number one. Mistake number two was doing this at home.
There Is Such A Thing As Too Much Bleach
This lady has come to the point of no return. Folks, there is such a thing as too much bleach in a person's hair! Hers, for example, looks like straw that is about to fall out and crumble away before it even hits the floor.
Bleach should be left to the professionals.
Is This A Fail?
Okay, so is this really a fail? Or is it just impressive? This guy literally took the time not only to cut his hair in the most bizarre way imaginable, but he then dyed the top green, the rest red, and spotted it with black.
Strawberry man, we salute your patience.
The Forehead Is The New Hair
When dyeing your hair, it's usually a good idea to dye, you know, your hair. Nowhere on the instructions does it say anything about dyeing skin, especially skin that's located on your face.
This person clearly skipped over that entire warning section. Here's to hoping she can get it off!
When You Decide To Shower Instead Of Rinse
Lady, it's called rinsing your hair out, not taking a shower with blue dye still heavily coated on your head! Forget her entire body being stained blue, making her look like a smurf, but what about her shower!
Her entire bathroom is undoubtedly looking like it took a horrible tumble through a patch of blueberries.
Sunburst Hair Gone Wrong
This lady needs to stop, drop whatever hair products she might have in her hands, and run to the nearest salon. In terms of coloring, the dark red she has on the bottom is actually kind of pretty.
But the fact that there is a supernova sunburst coming out of her roots kind of detracts from that fact.
This Is What Happens When People Don't Read Lables
The number one thing people should do with hair products is read labels. Take this guy, for example. He decided to go ahead and reach for the "shampoo" in the shower.
Too bad that shampoo happened to be a pink hair dye that his partner had been using. Good luck getting that dye off your hands!
She Missed A Spot Or Two
We're really not sure what happened here. Either she dyed her hair multiple shades of horrible blonde on purpose, or this is a bleach job gone incredibly wrong.
It's patchy throughout her entire head, and, from the looks of it, she didn't even bother with the back of her head or the roots!
Check The Gloves For Holes
With all that could go wrong when dyeing your own hair, it's important not to forget to check the provided gloves for holes!
It wasn't until she was completely done dying her hair blue that this girl realized there was a hole in the glove. Now her entire finger is dyed blue!
May Or May Not Have Just Burned Off All The Hair On His Head
Oh boy, this guy very well might have burned all of his hair off the top of his head with the amount of bleach that is saturated there. In his defense, the look he was going for was totally there.
It's just a matter of using a million pounds of burning chemicals probably wasn't the best way to get there.
